Perspective

These are certainly not the snow days of last year but we have gotten enough to say that it has 'snowed'. The kids enjoy getting the most out of every dusting that we have received this winter though their snow gear has definately NOT seen the action of last winter. I for one am very thankful for the change in seasons that we are blessed with here in the northeast. This cold change gives the time for busy moms to sit and read more to little ones, begin teaching new crafts, finishing up on long planed out projects and take a new look at the world. Enjoy the new look that winter gives or take a step back and look anew, it helps keep our perspective on things that have REAL value!

"Jammies"

There has been a shocking lack of photos taken in the past few months.
Yet there has been a goodly amount of creativity oozing from various corners of the house!
For holidays we try to put in a little something that is handmade and as we are now in the colder north some cozy "jammies" seemed in order. If one is going to be making "jammies" for four siblings then how much more fun to have them be matching;-) It has been some years since I have attempted to make clothing so this task was done in collaboration with my Mum. The results are being enjoyed very much by the kids.

It has been some time since posting and there are seasons in life when that needs to be. I do know that there are those of you who are yet very far away and do "check-in" now and again so we will try to keep up posting.

Los Globos (aqui)

Off we go, this is a bit ironic this past week in that we were able to attend a Hot Air Balloon Rally in the town we are living. For the past three years we were priviledged to enjoy a Balloon Festival (Festival de los Globos) while we were living in Mexico and now find that the town we are living in has an annual celebration very similar to the one we enjoyed while south of the boarder!
These are some of the photos taken from our walk to the launch field to view these quiet monsters take flight.
It was fun to see several familiar faces during the few hours we spent watching the various balloon prepare for flight.

Off they go and off I go to get some shut eye, enjoy!

A "first" birthday celebrated

Our Matthias has reached the one year mark. It seems hard to think that he has been with us that long but then when I take a moment to remember ALL that has transpired since his arrival in our family it feels that there has been more years than one gone by! He is becoming more and more his own little individual and we all enjoy his bright smile, companionship, curiosity and determination.
Happy Birthday to the only little Everson with a summer celebration. . . complete with lots of balls to play with and good eats like: homemade corn dogs (which he didn't eat but the other kids thought they were great), garden veggies and a blueberry pie!

Picnic for Papa

Sometimes it is more work than you would think to coordinate schedules and that was seeming the case as we planned to celebrate Papa (Jeremy's dad) on his birthday. But it all worked out in the end with a picnic at the park between Sunday services! The weather has been just beautiful this summer and that day was a perfect example of the loveliness we have been enjoying this summer.
As the cousins get older there have been more opportunities to participate in group games. There was a smattering of 'hide n' seek' and 'follow the leader' during our brief stint in the park.

And of coarse what Birthday would be complete with out some cake . . . this one had an appropriate patriotic flare to it as well. I am reminded of the verse in Exodus 20:5-6 where it talks about the iniquity of the fathers visiting the children to the third and the fourth generation and how we have been likewise blessed in having a Godly heritage. For our own children they are at least third generation followers of Christ on both sides of their family. What an awesome blessing that is and even more a challenge to us as parents to not take that for granted but to pursue the Lord in all areas and not assume that they will grasp onto truth by osmosis. They still need to be taught in the truth both in word and in deed as we walk through life together.
Galatians 6:9 "And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap if we do not give up."
