This past week we had some errands to do that took us in a coastal direction so we decided that to take advantage of already being close and go all the way to the ocean. It was a beautiful day, albeit a tad chilly on the coast but it was wonderful to see the ocean. There was another reason for wanting to go to that ocean and that was to gather some seaweed. Interesting, what would we be doing with seaweed? You may be thinking that those Everson's do eat some rather interesting things (and yes, seaweed has been on our plates at times but more in the form of sushi). We are hoping to get some gardens started here and have it from a good source that seaweed makes great fertilizer! It was for this purpose that we traveled to southwest NH.
It was also just a very refreshing day as a family. Road trips have been such a part of our lives for the past however many years that I have really come to enjoy the travel time as well. Perhaps part of the reason I enjoy the ride is that it is one of those rare times when I can 'just sit', but also I get to sit next to my hubby of 10 years(!), what could be better than that.
Notice all the rocks. . . that is what I recognize as the Atlantic coast and LOVE it. I think it has quite a lot to do with memories that you have and make, and mine of the New England coast are some of the sweetest family times I had growing up.
We are now four tubs full of seaweed better off in our gardening endeavors. There will probably not be too many results from our efforts seen this summer but next year this little trek will hopefully pay off and if not the trip was SOOOO worth it!
Our trip was closed with a stop for Clam Chowder for lunch! This is not an everyday event but the memories of our trip will last for many days yet :-)
