Kiera's 8th

Well, (it seems that often my post begin with a well, and here we go again but it seems to fit) 8 years have come and gone since we entered the life of parenthood. It hardly seems possible that Kiera has been with us for that long and yet there have been SOOOO many moves and changes that have taken place during the span of her life that often times it seems that she should be a little older than her 8 years. However things may seem the truth of the matter is that yesterday we had a fun celebration of the years that the Lord has given us with this talented, deep young (dare I say 'lady') girl. Personally I have learned many things through her and I know that is true for Jeremy as well. There are things that I love doing with her and some that I don't. There are aspects of her personality that seem as though I am looking in a mirror and other that can only be due to her own unique person.
Yesterday also marked the first 'big' event in our new home as we invited family to celebrate with us. In all 7 previous birthday celebrations Kiera has never had the joy of doing so with any family outside of her own parents and siblings. This year we decided to change that and seeing that Jeremy and I are from the same area we invited both sets of parents, Grammie, his local sister with her family and my local brother with his family for a grand total of 20 people! It was fun, not too loud and a treat for the birthday girl to have other loved ones to celebrate with.
The menu was selected by the birthday girl herself and it was comprised of Pierogis, steamed corn & peas, tossed salad and carrot cake with ice cream for dessert! Thank you to all that helped make her day special whether that was through phone calls, emails, facebook notes cards, your presents or your presence it was a Happy Birthday!
