Quilts

So every one asks what we have been doing to keep busy during this time of waiting and transition. Well, keeping up with a family of three kids and a baby will keep you busy all on it's own, then homeschooling on top of that has been taking up most of the morning time, and then there are the 'projects' that I have been working on here and there.
This past summer and now on into the fall I have been working on making some quilts for the kids. These have been a much longer project than just this past month and a half. Last summer when I (Beth) was in NH after the death of my sister Joanna, I was able to begin some of the quilt squares for a quilt for Mabri . . . but nothing more was accomplished with that. So this summer the project resurfaced and I realized that Matthias would be needing a quilt of his own somewhere along the line. Then if Matthias and Jonas were going to be sharing the 'boy's' room (where ever that may be) it would be nice if their bedding were to match to some extent thus a new quilt for Jonas was in order as well. So began a total of three quilts with the help of my mum and Leah the faces of the three quilts are shown in the photo below and at the very top of this post draped over the railing of the guest house stair case!
The boy's quilts have different colors but there are some similarities in that they have the same 'pinwheel' design and share the color blue, though there is more green in Jonas' quilt (seen between the girls in the picture) and more red in Matthias' quilt (seen at the top of the stair case). Mabri's quilt (in the middle) has several of the same fabric swatches that are in Kiera's quilt (which has graced her bed for some almost four years now). So that is just a little tidbit on the other happenings in the creative aspects of our family life. Hopefully the quilts will be put together in the near future and enjoyed on the bed's of the J, M & M!!!
