This past Friday we enjoyed participating in the annual family field day. The weather was perfect for spending the day out in the elements and apart from some red cheeks we came away unscathed and well exercised!
It was a neat opportunity to interact with our fellow missionaries that maintain support roles here in the city as well as rubbing shoulders with Mexican both in the national training with NTM and those that have their kids enrolled in the MK school.
As home-schoolers it was a good opportunity for our kids to interact with others their own ages and practice some team work, and for them to get a little taste of school culture (if you will).
During the day we were able to get another up close picture of some of the native desert life that the ranch setting provided and introduce Leah (Beth's sister) to some other aspects of our lives over the past 2 1/2 years. Above is a horned lizard that some of the kids found while participating in the 'insect search' competition.
As we are staying in the city (which by the way has the same population as the entire state of NH) it is very refreshing to get out of the hustle and bustle that surrounds us on a daily basis. Mabri spent a good deal of the day just playing with rocks and other such findings.
Jeremy was one of the officiants for some of the sporting activities so those years of PE major in college have come in handy once again!
Both Jonas and Kiera kept up very well in their age category though Kiera had a highlight in kicking the soccer ball further than her age group and that of the others up into the fourth grade level! Good leg, Kiera!
It was a day enjoyed by all and a GREAT night's sleep followed!
P.S. To those of you who the Lord prompts please be praying for Ben & Ruth Kane as one of their daughters has been having some odd health symptoms, pray that they would have wisdom and direction as to her health. . . they are presently in Indonesia.
